About the sample sale

I'm thrilled that you're interested in my fin prototypes! Please take the time to read the following information and care instructions carefully to avoid incorrect purchases or disappointment.
As the name suggests, these prototypes are not yet ready for mass production and represent a process for me to explore the art of mermaid fin making. While I've been working as a mermaid fin designer since 2018, creating my own product is a completely different experience. This process was necessary to experiment with various fabrics, cuts, and techniques. To make product development possible, I sewed the fins myself, which is why they are far from the quality of an industrial seamstress.
These prototypes are therefore primarily aimed at photographers who want to use the fins for enchanting fantasy shoots, or experienced mermaids/mermen who are accustomed to handling large flukes and are confident swimmers. Please do not order these prototypes if you have no experience with the sport of mermaiding. Never swim alone and only in safe waters.

It is definitely an advantage if you know how to sew, because the probability of a seam bursting is not insignificant.

Important! The fins ordered do not include a monofin or vinyl.

You can either sew a pocket for your monofin or make your own vinyl inlay. I recommend using vinyl that is at least 2mm thick on a single sheet. You can find suitable vinyl by googling "transparent vinyl tablecloths".

Quick guide:

Turn the fin inside out (leaving out the very thin ends, as you probably won't be able to fit the vinyl in there and this will save you the hassle of turning the fin right side out again), place the vinyl over it, and trace the outline along the seam line. Cut this out, ideally with a scalpel or very sharp scissors. Place the cut vinyl on top of another piece of vinyl and trace the outline again to ensure both pieces are identical. Now, place your monofin on the cut vinyl to determine the position for your Velcro fastener.

Never swim without a secured monofin! Failure to follow these rules can lead to serious injuries or even drowning.
